Lance’s most recent adventure was a charity bike ride from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) in Vietnam to the ancient remains of Angkor Wat in Cambodia for the animal charity Petsavers. It’s a distance of 500 km (300 miles) across mixed terrain. All sponsorship monies received went to Petsavers (www.bsava.com/petsavers) animal charity in memory of my great dog buddy ‘Fred’ who died from cancer at only 8 years of age earlier in the year.
Cycling, what a brilliant way to sample such a wonderful part of the world!! Superb scenery and lovely people...and the temples of Angkor Wat....incredible, particularly the splendidly eerie ruins that have merged into the massive tree roots over the centuries!!
Needless to say the leisure kilt was well used,so easy to don over cycling shorts and ideal for discreet changes. Spent a few well earned relaxing days afterwards on Phuket island (Thailand) and ventured out one night to the bright lights and raunchy bars of Patong Beach, got great reactions to the kilt particularly from the girls in the bars. Couldn't understand why I was groped so often until someone told me that they were curious to know if I was a 'ladyboy' cos I was wearing a skirt!? me, with a beard!!?? Oh well, some evening!!?
